If I had 50 million dollars...

I would...

* not tell anyone, or I would tell them that I had a lot less than I really did so that they don't expect anything from me or turn into "money grabbers". I already know who my real friends are, I don't care for "fake" people.

* hire a lawyer, someone I already know, so that I know they're trustworthy.

* buy a house, with a nice guest house. I wouldn't buy a huge house, just something big enough to make be happy, have each child have their own room and bathroom, a music room with a baby grand piano, a drum set and violins. The guest house is, of course, for guests, I want everyone to come visit. It would have a shed for Curt to work on his airplanes. They make him happy and I want him to be happy! He would have a small allowance, but wouldn't have to sell his plasma for extra parts like I make him do right now.

* Hire a part time maid to help me clean that happy home... and landscapers to mow the yard, I would still do the gardening myself, some of the cleaning. My kids can do the rest.

* donate 5 million to the church, maybe more.

* donate 2 million to the mission fund

* set up mission funds for my kids.

* donate 3 million to the perpetual education fund. If you teach a man to fish...

* donate 2 million anonymously to the Red Cross. Any after the kids are grown, I would donate my time to them.

* invest 20 million in whatever Mike Reynolds told me to. Yes, I really would hire him to do that for me. He knows more about things like that than Curt and I do.

* set up trustfunds for my kid's educations. I hate student loans. But I would make this just for their tuition and books, they still need to learn responsibility and should have to pay for where they live and support their own lifestyle.

* Buy a car for Curtis. Not a fast one... have you driven with him? He's scary. Maybe I should buy him a "green car". That way he won't burn through gas so quickly either. I like my minivan... I think I would keep it for a while.

* Keep the Townhome, buy the others that are attached, and rent it out at a super low rate for newly married, ACTIVE members of the ward until my kids are old enough to use it. Then, I would have them pay me the same rent. But it's nice to know your neighbors and have a support system where you live, especially the first few years of marriage. But they would only be allowed to live there until they were done with school or four years, whichever came first. I would also put solar panels on the roof to help with their electric bills.

* Pay off all of our debt, which in the real world is not very much but seems like a lot to me. Like I said before, I hate school loans.

* Ignore ALL of the credit cards! If I have the money, why use credit? It would seem kind of pointless. Then... who would care about your credit rating? I wouldn't have to use credit!

* Help out my closest friends. I have some friends that have financial issues that they have caused themselves... but I would still help them. My friend's hubby got them into so real financial trouble and she has suffered through it with him. They have never rubbed it in our faces when they were making money and were always willing to share (they still share what little they have left).

* Build us a year supply and have 72 hour kits for my entire family. Parents, Siblings, in-laws on both sides, nieces, nephews..

* Throw a huge party. Not like the MTV Sweet Sixteen type, but more like in my backyard with a huge BBQ and a couple of blowup slide for the kids. Where we would serve Ribs, all you can eat wings from Native New Yorker and Ribeyes.

* Speaking of parties, have an annual New Year's Eve party where I would serve waffles. It's a family tradition.

* Hire a personal trainer. Someone who can come in and kick my butt into shape. Someone who knows what to say to me to get me going.

* Get my chest deflated. They have always been to large and I want to be more proportionate after I loose all my weight. A size C would be nice.

* Curt would still have to work, I would still have to be a mom. I want my kid's role models to be their parents.

Sorry that it's so long, but I have really thought this out!

Wow, Shellee, you really have thought this through. But how do you get the fifty million? and is that before or after taxes? The government will want their huge chunk! I like all the generous donations you would make, and that you, curtis and the kids would still have to work (you as the mom caring for the kids). I hate seeing rich kids like Paris Hilton who never do anything to earn their money and act like they are better than everyone else.

After taxes. I was thinking that if I had one hundred million, they would take half and that's depressing. It's part of life, but if I had between death and taxes, I would definately take taxes.

I deem you worthy to receive said funds.
That was truly the most thought out list, I figured you have $1.28 left over.

Melissa, do you realize what college is supposed to cost by the time my kids get there? Much less when they get their Masters and Doctorates?
BTW, the investing would be so that Curt and I could retire and service a humanitarian type mission, and I would love the work for the Red Cross as a Relief Agent.
So, what would you do?

I made a mathematical error, If I had 100 million, then I would up the Church donation to 10 million. We'll figure it out when I have it!
